Korg MS-20

I´m happy to host Ernst Gaida-Hartmanns MS collection, which makes total of 2 MS-20, MS-50, and the SQ-10. It´s amazing how differnt the two MS-20 sound. While mine produces fat sinoid filter feedbacks, Ernst´s has a much rougher sound. I like both though.

The South-Wall

. . . and this is the south-wall of the KlangBureau, . . nah, of course not. Its the gigantic SynLab analog-modular synthesizer built in 1978 by Hofschneider, Berlin for the ICEM-Institute, which is part of the Folkwang Hochschule Essen, Germany. Its is based on the design of the ARP 2600, but heavily customized. 80 modules to fiddle with, an amazing, unique instrument! I had the chance to patch a couple of sounds there. Lock me in that studio, supply me with water, bread and tapes, and I'd be fine for a couple of months . . .
Unfortunately analog synthesis is no longer a subject matter, they moved on to computers running C-Sound. So plans are to move the SynLab to the museum. Here are some detail pics and infos.

The Omnichord

My friend Jeffrey Morgan found this obscure instrument in his backyard. It is designed to be an electrical type of auto-harp, with build in rhythm-section. "Cheasy " is the perfect description of its sound, but its unique qualities are hidden on the inside. I play it mostly on the circuit board with my fingers making contacts between special points and areas to produce all kinds of screaming, moaning and booming noises. As you can see I equiped it with a rechargable battery so I can stay away from powersupplies.
